Step 2 – Mediation

Step 2 – Mediation

Mediation/Negotiations

Once the opposing party is served with the petition, The Gregg Law Firm will attempt to negotiate with the opposing party or their attorney usually regarding martial property and children’s issues while your divorce is pending.  If those initial negotiations fail, then mediation is usually required by the courts.

During mediation, the parties and their attorneys negotiate through the facilitation of a neutral mediator. If mediation fails, then The Gregg Law Firm will set up a Temporary Orders Hearing with the court.  During a Temporary Orders Hearing, the Judge makes his decisions based upon the testimony of the parties and any evidence or witnesses presented.
